In a region stretching from Afghanistan to Gaza<\/strong>, where long-running conflicts continue to destabilise millions of lives, Qatar has renewed its call for inclusive political engagement<\/strong>\u2014including with non-state actors\u2014as the only realistic path toward lasting peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the 23rd Doha Forum<\/strong>, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani<\/strong> stressed that peace efforts cannot succeed if key players on the ground are excluded from negotiations.
He stated clearly: \u201cYou cannot resolve or reach a solution if you have no one speaking to non-state actors.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inclusive Dialogue Is Essential for Stability<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Moderated by US journalist Tucker Carlson<\/strong>, the session highlighted how current regional conflicts\u2014whether in Afghanistan, Palestine, or other flashpoints<\/strong>\u2014require engagement with all parties involved, even those often dismissed or labelled controversial in Western political circles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sheikh Mohammed emphasised that Qatar\u2019s mediation model<\/strong> is built on establishing direct communication channels with influential groups. This strategy, he said, has shaped Qatar\u2019s diplomatic efforts for more than a decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar\u2019s Longstanding Mediation Role<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Qatar\u2019s involvement in mediation is not new. Its diplomatic channels with both Hamas<\/strong> and the Taliban<\/strong> were created at the request of the United States<\/strong>, Sheikh Mohammed noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • It serves strictly as a communication and coordination channel<\/strong>, primarily to:\n

    • Enable humanitarian aid delivery<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Coordinate international mediation efforts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Sheikh Mohammed clarified that the purpose was never political endorsement but maintaining a functional line of communication<\/strong>, which international mediators often rely upon during crises in Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Taliban Political Office<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Similarly, the Taliban\u2019s political office in Doha was opened in 2013<\/strong>, again at Washington\u2019s request<\/strong> during the height of the group\u2019s conflict with the United States and the former Afghan government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      This office later became the foundation for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • The Doha Agreement<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n

        According to Sheikh Mohammed, Qatar\u2019s unique diplomatic role has demonstrated that neutral platforms are essential<\/strong> for resolving conflicts involving fragmented or contested authorities.
        He argued that many of these actors, regardless of political legitimacy, hold real influence on the ground<\/strong>, and ignoring them only prolongs instability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Qatar Rejects Claims of Misused Aid in Gaza<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Responding to accusations that Qatari humanitarian funds for Gaza were diverted to Hamas, Sheikh Mohammed issued a strong rebuttal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        He said Qatar\u2019s aid processes are fully transparent<\/strong> and conducted with direct US oversight<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \u201cAll our aid, financing, and all our support went to the people in Gaza, and it was a very transparent process that the United States is very aware of,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
